Today is Oliver’s last day of oral chemo! He has continued to be such a champ in taking up to 8 different medications a day, including a 1 hour infusion. We are so proud of his bravery and he continues to inspire us and those around him with his adorable personality and joy through all of this.
We recently had a conversation with the bone marrow transplant nurse with some updates about next steps. Everything is looking good for our donor to donate bone marrow on May 14th. She will get two rounds of blood work to test for infectious diseases and were told that nothing is 100% sure until we have her bone marrow, but as of now, everything is looking as it should. We are still expected to be admitted on May 5th and before we are admitted Oliver needs to be in remission, have an echo, CT scan, chest x-ray, EKG, a kidney test called a GFR, and get a second central line and an NG-tube placed. We are going to be crunched on time, so please pray that we will be able to get all testing done in the next couple weeks and that Oliver wouldn’t get sick. If he gets a respiratory virus, it will delay his transplant. While we are excited about this next step as a possibility because it will be one step closer to curing him of cancer, it will be mean guaranteed hair loss, pain including mouth sores, nausea, appetite loss, etc..
Our next clinic appointment is on Tuesday, April 15th and we will get his bone marrow biopsy if his counts are high enough. We should know if this round was successful about three days after his biopsy. Thank you for your prayers and support!
Our sweet friends and next door neighbors just got a trampoline, which has made Oliver’s life so happy. He jumps on it more than their kids do :)
